My approach is strength based, fluid and is shaped by the different needs of each client. I will work collaboratively with you to develop goals and style, which best supports your needs.
Any and all of the techniques can be applied to people who are challenged with psychological, emotional, and relational distress and present acute and/or chronic suffering.
Psychodynamic. An approach which focuses on the way that experiences and early dynamics have affected our beliefs about ourselves, our relationships and the world. This approach focuses on understanding the influence of the past on present behavior and feelings. This is an insight oriented approach.
Cognitive Behavioral. An approach which focuses on the way that thoughts, behaviors and feelings affect one another. This approach focuses on learning to change our thoughts and behaviors in order to change how we feel. This is a concrete behavior oriented approach.
Mindfulness. An approach which focuses on the present awareness of our thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations. This approach focuses on acceptance and nonjudgmental observation of ourselves and our environment. This approach increases control of attention, relaxation and presence.
Relational Psychotherapy. An approach with focuses on the understanding that in order for a person to be emotionally healthy, he or she must maintain fulfilling and satisfying relationships with those around them. It provides an atmosphere of empathy and attentiveness in order to elicit a full disclosure of the client’s experiences, events, and the affects they have had both relationally and socially.

Individual therapy is a time for you to navigate through your experiences, beliefs and habits to gain clarity and direction for how you want to function in relationship with self and others. It’s essential to look at the whole person, mind, body and spirit, in order to find true balance.
Some of the areas explored in Individual Therapy:
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better"
-Maya Angelou
I offer weekly sessions, discernment counseling as well as two day couples intensives.
Weekly sessions focus on problem-solving, deeper understanding and connection and improving relationship skills.
Common areas to explore:
Discernment Counseling is a specific form of brief therapy (4-6 sessions or 1 day intensive) designed for couples who are uncertain about the future of their relationship, especially when one partner is leaning towards divorce and the other wants to preserve the marriage.
Two Day Couples intensive can be a transformative experience for relationships in need of deep focus, necessary intervention and profound understanding and connection . This is the most fast track and comprehensive way for couples to shift to new ways of thriving together.
